About Wichita Church Holds Prayer Vigil to Support People of Arizona

Will the power of prayer work here ?Wichita Church Holds Prayer Vigil to Support People of Arizona?
Praying for immigrants and praying for reform. That was purpose of a vigil held Saturday evening at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Wichita. Arizona is just a little more than a month from enacting it's controversial new immigration law. That has thousands, here in Kansas, and across the nation looking to religion for change. "That's why I'm here tonight, to unite with brothers and sisters and pray," explains Patricia Tristan. She has hope that someday immigration laws won't separate families who've lived a majority of their lives in the United States. "I've seen the pain of my people and I suffer. I see children left behind without a dad or a mom and I just care for that." Saturday's vigil was in connection with events all over the country. Not just calling for national reform, but also gathering support against Arizona's new law, set to start next month. It would allow police to ask anyone for proof of citizenship, something many fear will lead to profiling. Amira Palacious, who helped organize the event, tells Eyewitness News, "We're hoping that something happens so this doesn't have to happen in other states and so forth." Those sending prayers Saturday night said they're aware not everyone agrees with them when it comes to illegal immigration. Many states say the issue costs them millions of dollars each year. But supporters like Patricia say it's more than just an issue of right and wrong. "We are humans and this county shouldn't be setting boundaries for other people who are looking for the American dream." http://www.kansascw.com/Global/story.asp?S=12677684

I could care less of what a church thinks. They do not even pay taxes.

Just the act of showing support is a positive for Arizona. Whether you believe in prayer or not. JD

I doubt it...Bible says that prayers of willful, unrepentant sinner is an ABOMINATION to God. And what is a sinner?-we are all sinners, but those who are not repentant FIRST of their sins, their prayers can not be heard by God.And these "saints" in Wichita Church, are praying for something they know is WRONG - for LAW BREAKING ILLEGALS. And Bible/God clearly states in hundred places that we all are to respect governmental laws, because governments are set up by will of God...and this Arizona`s law is in NO WAY contradicting God`s commandments, so how can such prayers that are contrary to God`s open commandments be "helpful"?...It just doesn`t work like that. It`s like praying for a thief, or a DUI not to get caught...or like going out to look for work but praying that you DON`T find it-which is what some people are doing.- (winking smiley here.)
